The Realme 7 and 7 Pro have already been announced in India, and now the brand is planning on launching the more affordable Realme 7i in Indonesia on September 17, 2020.
During IFA, Realme didn’t announce any new phones for the UK market but they did state that both the Realme 7 phones and the new Dimensity equipped X7 models will be coming later this year. I would expect the 7i will also launch.
Mysmartprice have no revealed the up and coming specs of the Realme 7i
Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 vs MediaTek Helio G80 Specification
The biggest change from the Realme 6i is the shift from the Helio G80 to the Snapdragon 662, however, in terms of performance, there doesn’t look like you will see much of a difference.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 has:
- Fabrication Process: 11nm LPP
- CPU:
- 4x ARM Cortex-A73 clocked at 2.0 GHz
- 4x ARM Cortex-A53 which clocked at 2.0 GHz
- GPU: Adreno 610
The Helio G70 has:
- Fabrication Process: 12nm FinFE
- CPU:
- 2x ARM Cortex-A75 clocked at 2.0 GHz
- 6x ARM Cortex-A55 which clocked at 1.8 GHz
- GPU: ARM-Mali G52 MP2
The Cortex-A75 brings a 20% performance increase over the A73. With Cortex- A55, we see 18% increased in performance compared to the A53.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 vs MediaTek Helio G80 Benchmarks
Geekbench 5 Benchmark
Not many phones have been launched with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662, but the Motorola Moto G9 Play is one and it has been benchmarked a few times. In Geekbench the chipset scores below the Helio G80 which is used on the older Realme 6i.

Antutu Benchmarks
Currently there have been no benchmarks made of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662, however it is very similarly specced to the Snapdragon 665 which was used on the Realme 5. While not a bad chipset, it doesn’t perform as well as the Helio G80 on the Realme 6i.

Battery Life
One thing worth noting is that the Realme 6i was geared more towards an exceptional battery life with its 5,000mAh battery, 720p screen and low powered chipset. Qualcomm tend to be a little more efficient than Mediatek and the smaller fabrication process of the SD662 should make the new Realme 7i last longer.
The Realme 7i will have the same large 5,000mAh battery and 18W charging.
Display
The Realme 7i will have a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate, the front camera will also be inside a punch hole. The fingerprint scanner will then be mounted on the rear.
The Realme 6i has an identical specification apart from the refresh rate which is 60Hz and the selfie camera which was inside a notch. I am not sure if a 90hz display is needed on an affordable phone really.
Camera
The Realme 7i will feature a quadruple rear camera array of 64MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP and a 16MP selfie sensor.
This is a slight upgrade to the Realme 6i, which has a lower MP primary camera with 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP
Memory & Storage
It is reported that the phone will have 8GB or RAM and 128GB of storage, which is quite a large upgrade from the base spec of 3GB/64GB of the 6i. This could be the top spec though, with lower variants also available.
Overall
By all accounts, this sounds like a forgettable product release. The Realme 6i was only launched in March though, so it was inevitable that this would not be a massive upgrade.
