Razer has grown to become one of the most recognisable brands in the gaming industry, known for its high-quality products; gaming orientated aesthetics and gear made to maximise your performance.
They have a wide range of peripherals, including mice and keyboards from affordable to high end. If you are looking to buy a gaming mouse online, which is the best option for you?
Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro – Classic design, maximum performance, wireless convenience from £129.99
The new Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro is a wireless gaming mouse with a traditional ergonomic, simple design.
Using the Hyperspeed wireless technology, it is 25% faster than any other wireless technology on the market (including Logitech Lightspeed)
It uses a 2nd gen Razer optical mouse switch with Improved with greater tactile feedback; every click now feels and sounds more satisfying—actuating via an infrared light beam for an industry-leading response time of 0.2ms.
You don’t need to worry about your mouse dying mid gaming session either, using Bluetooth, it will last 120 hours, with Hyperspeed you get 70 hours. The charging cable is front-facing, allowing you to carry on gaming while charging.
Alternative Option: The Razer DeathAdder V2 is the wired variant for just £69.99
Alternative Option 2 – If you love the traditional ambidextrous simple design of the DeathAdder but can’t afford the V2 pricing, then the wired DeathAdder Essential is just £49.99
Razer Naga Pro- Modular wireless gaming mouse for ultimate customisation between MMO/MOBA/FPS from £149.99
MMO gaming mice have become popular in recent years, offering a huge number of buttons allowing to map functions and macros to each button. The problem with them is that all those buttons get in the way when you switch to FPS game where you want fewer buttons but a better grip.
The Razer Naga Pro fixes that by offering three swappable side plates to go from 2 side buttons, 6, and up to 12 buttons.
In total, you can have 19+1 programmable buttons!
Similar to the DeathAdder V2 Pro, you get Hyperspeed wireless technology, and this mouse can do 150 hours on Bluetooth or 100 on Hyperspeed.
The optical sensory itself offers superior performance than many brands. Razer Focus+ has an industry-leading 20,000 DPI with 99.6% resolution accuracy, ensuring that even the finest movement from this modular wireless gaming mouse is tracked with consistency.
Razer Basilisk Ultimate – Ergonomic right-hand mouse
This is an ergonomic mouse for right hands gamers, so your thumb can fit in the groove on the right-hand side, this will be a particularly good option for gamers that use a palm grip. You get 14-programmable buttons, and there is built-in Razer Chroma RGB, so it looks as impressive as it performs.
One feature I noticed about this that I like is the ability to set the scroll wheel resistance, I prefer something a little looser when working so scrolling web pages is a bit faster, but for gaming, you may want something with a little more granular control.
Alternative Option: The Razer Basilisk X Hyper Speed is an affordable wireless gaming mouse from £59.99
Razer Viper Ultimate – Lightweight ambidextrous high performance for £129.99
Another traditional ambidextrous design, the Viper Ultimate comes in three colours, Black, Pink and White.
Along with the Hyperspeed wireless technology you find in the other mice, it uses a 20,000 DPI sensor, with advanced intelligent functions to improve accuracy.
Weighing just 74g, this is one of the lightest mice on the market.
Razer Mamba Hyperflux + Firefly Hyperflux – Ultimate wireless freedom with RGB charging gaming matt from £249.99
A premium priced product for a gamer that wants the best of the best. The Razer Mamba Hyperflux adopts the Hyperflox technology we have seen in the other mice but combines this with an included RGB mouse mat that actually charges your mouse as you game. You never need to remember to charge your mouse again!
At just 96g, this is lighter than most other wireless mice on the market. It is equipped with a true 16,000 DPI 5G optical sensor (I can only cope with about 10K while gaming!) and Razer’s proprietary Adaptive Frequency Technology for unparalleled wireless signal stability, the Razer Mamba HyperFlux allows for swift and exact mouse movements.
Razer Viper Mini – Ultra-lightweight and affordable wired mouse from £39.99
One of the most affordable mice in the Razer range; this mouse is a smaller form that remains just as big in performance. Shortening its length and grip width this is ideal for people with smaller hands or even just as a travel mouse for gaming when away from home.
Overall – My recommendation
It can be hard to recommend a mouse because it is such a personal decision. Are you right-handed? Do you want an ergonomic fit? A bigger or smaller mouse? What buttons do you need? How do you hole the mouse?
Then there are things like weight, DPI, wireless vs wired.
Also, we can’t ignore the price. Razer products may be amazing, but many of the above choices are quite expensive.
Razer has a particularly good guide for recommending a mouse.
Using my specifics of being a right-handed gamer with a claw grip, they recommend one of the Razer Basilisk which does look amazing. Their ergonomic design maybe not to the liking of some users though. The Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro (or the more affordable options) is probably the one with the most universal appeal I would have thought.
