Today OPPO has launched the Reno Z in the UK which will come in two colours, Jet Black and Aurora Purple priced from £299.00 RRP at Carephone Warehouse and will be available on EE with a variety of contracts.
While it uses the Reno branding this is very much a different phone from the Oppo Reno and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom.
Mediatek Chipset Helio P90
This is a curious release as a lot of the specification is very impressive, bordering on a flagship spec phone. However, OPPO has eschewed from the popular Qualcomm chipset and decided to use an option from Mediatek.
Mediatek is traditionally used in budget phones, and while they are perfectly decent chips for day to day use, they generally can’t compete with Qualcomm, though they are priced accordingly.
The Mediatek MT6779 Helio P90 is slightly different, as it sits at the top of the Mediatek range utilizing an Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) CPU and a PowerVR GM9446 which is fabricated on the 12nm process.
In comparison, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 which you might find on a phone at this price uses a 2x Kryo 360 (A75) @ 2.2GHz 6x Kryo 360 (A55) @ 1.7GHz but this is fabricated on a 10nm process.
So on paper, there is not that much difference between the two devices, but the Helio P90 will likely help keep the costs down.
Full Specification
Moving on from chipset the rear of the phone has a powerful 48MP snapper, joined by a 5MP depth sensor – which is used to add artificial background blur to portrait shots. The front camera is 32MP, making it a great choice selfies.
The screen is a 6.4-inch AMOLED display which runs at 1080 x 2340 and uses a small notch to give a 85.3% screen-to-body ratio.
Memory options include 128/256 GB, 6 GB RAM or 128 GB, 8 GB RAM though expect the £299 model to be 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
There is an impressive 4035 mAh battery which can be charged up quickly using 20W VOOC 3.0.
So if you are on the lookout for an affordable phone with multi-day battery and some impressive photo cababilities then the Reno Z could be worth checking out.

being disturbed by other applications, offering a more immersive gaming
experience.

more immersive experience on a full-screen phone.
