The Honor 30S is set to launch in China on the 30th of March; this is expected to feature the latest upper mid-range chip from Huawei/HiSilicon giving the Chinese brand a 5G chipset that will compete with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, Samsung Exynos 980 and MediaTek Dimensity 1000l/800.
The Chinese website, IT House, has published a piece indicating
the new chipsets offers a huge leap in performance, allowing it to compete with
flagship spec chipsets from last year.
The Geekbench 4 results indicate that the new chipset will
outperform the Kirin 980, which is used on the Huawei P40 Pro, in both single and multi-core scores, then it
offers superior single core performance than the Snapdragon 855 while matching
the multi-core score.

I would take these results with a pinch of salt at the
moment until we see some realistic looking benchmarks done. The single-core
performance is believable, but it would be quite an achievement to match the
multi-core score of a flagship with the 2×6 designs we typically see on
mid-range chipsets.
It is expected that the Kirin 820 5G will be made on the 7nm
fabrication process with 2xCortex-A76 performance cores, 6xCoretex-A55
efficiency cores and a Mali-G77 GPU. If the above results are true, it could be
that the chipset uses 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores.
