I have not reviewed any of the D-Link Wi-Fi 6 gear yet, but they have been launching some incredibly affordable devices that make for an appealing alternative to TP-Link and Netgear.
The new whole-home mesh COVR system is the latest Wi-Fi 6 option from them, and it is one of the most affordable Wi-Fi 6 mesh systems on the market.
The 2-pack D-Link COVR-X1862 is just £124.99 on Amazon, while the three-pack is £189.99.
The cheapest (3-pack) option Netgear have is the MK63 Mesh System, currently at £249.99, while the TP-Link Deco X20 is £260.99. The ASUS ZenWiFi AX Mini (XD4) is £289.99.
The only cheaper option would be to create your own mesh system by pairing up multiple Huawei AX3 routers. However, some users have stated these working in a system have poor range. It will also be slightly less user friendly to set up.
Of course, at this price, it is quite low specced as far as a Wi-Fi 6 mesh system goes, but it should be an excellent solution for most homes that don’t have too demanding requirements.
As you would expect, this is a dual-band system, so the backhaul channels share bandwidth with the client, causing signal loss. This will mean the satellite devices will have around half the throughput as the wired router.
