Nubia RedMagic 5G lite comes to Spain via Vodafone – No PAYG or Amazon options though & costs more than the flagship

The Nubia Play launched in April, but it has now been rebranded for the EU as the Nubia Red Magic 5G lite.

The phone is available now in Spain via Vodafone on a contract which sadly means there is no way to import it easily, you would have to opt for a grey import of the nubia Play instead.

The Lite moniker means this drops the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset found on the flagship Nubia Red Magic 5G and uses the more affordable Snapdragon 765G chipset.

The Snapdragon 765G has become an extremely popular chipset but for some reason, there have been few phones launched in Europe using it. It is only recently that the Oppo Find X2 Lite and the Motorola Edge have become available.

Beyond the chipset, this phone has a big 6.65″ AMOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and capacitive shoulder buttons. The SD765G is paired with 25GB of UFS 2.1 storage and 8GB RAM.

The battery of the Nubia Red Magic 5G lite has 5,100mAh capacity and support for 30W fast charging.

The phone runs Android 10 with Nubia UI 8.0 on top and comes with four cameras on the back with a 48MP primary lens, 8MP ultra-wide, then 2MP macro and 2MP depth. On the front you get a 12MP wide lens.

Unfortunately, even if you do live in Spain and want this phone, it is probably not worth it. The Vodafone pricing is not good, it looks like they break the contract down into phone and data. So for the phone only you pay €17 PCM for 36 months giving you a total cost of €612.

For that price, you could just buy the flagship RedMagic 5G direct from RedMagic for €579.00 or if you are in the UK it is £539
