The OnePlus 9 Pro is finally here, and it has landed at a great price, in my opinion. With all the hype over the Hasselblad camera, I had worried it was going to launch at £900+ but at £829 is it only £70 more than the RRP of the Xiaomi Mi 11.
The standard OnePlus 9 is very attractively priced at just £629, making it the most affordable Snapdragon 888 equipped phone by far that is available in the EU.
Both phones feature the SD888 and then have 8+128GB or 12+256GB RAM/Storage

The main camera uses an IMX789 which is co-developed with Sony. It’s a large 1/1.43” sensor with 1.12 µm pixels, 48MP resolution. This is actually quite a bit different than the Sony IMX 766 which is used on the Oppo Find X3 Pro, I had expected them to be suspiciously similar.
The ultra wide-angle camera boasts another Sony sensor, the 50MP IMX766 (same as the Find X3 Pro). The 1/1.56” sensor sits behind a freeform lens, which reduces distortion near the edges to 1% (compared to 10-20% for a typical lens). This camera has an autofocus system that allows it to shoot macro photos at just 4 cm distance.
You don’t get a periscope lens with high magnification. Instead, It offers 3.3x optical magnification (77 mm)
For the display, it is a 6.7” LTPO AMOLED panel running at 1440p+ that can adjust the refresh rate from the top 120Hz (for a smooth UI) all the way down to 1Hz. It then has a touch sampling rate of 240Hz
The battery is 4500mAh with 65W wired charging and 50W wireless.

The main camera on the OnePlus 9 is the IMX689 sensor that was used on the OnePlus 8T and Find X2 Pro.
OIS is gone and while the camera keeps the 8K 30 fps mode, it loses the 4K 120 fps mode (it tops out at 4K 60 fps). The Hasselblad Pro Mode is still on board, despite the sensor change.
The ultra-wide is the same IMX766 sensor with freefrom lens used on the OP9Pro.
The display is a touch smaller 6.55” AMOLED panel with 1080p+ and this doesn’t have the adaptive refresh rate but still has 120Hz refresh mode.
This also has a 4,500 mAh battery and a wired Warp Charge 65T. It has wireless charging too but this is limited to 15W Qi charging
Price and Availability
Both phones should be available to pre-order from 3:30pm today (23rd) via Amazon. The Pro model will go on open sale on the 31st while the OP9 will be April 26th.
What is not cheap is that charger – £70!
