Earlier this month. POCO Global Marketing Manager revealed they are working on an OnePlus Nord competitor. It has now been revealed that the POCO X3 will launch on the 8th of September and it is not quite the OnePlus Nord competitor we may have expected.
Yesterday, Angus Kai Ho Ng revealed four potential designs of the new phone with the rear cameras located in a circular design, but then laid out differently in each design.
Shortly after this tweet, Sudhanshu tweeted the specification of the phone that had been posted on MIUI Türkiye. The page on this forum has now been taken down which is always a good sign of a takedown request. However, thanks to Google cache, this content is still accessible.
Poco X3 Specification – Snapdragon 732 (or is it Snapdragon 732G)
The page indicated the launch date would be the 8th of September and the full specification would be:
- 6.67″ 120hz Display, 240Hz Touch Latency
- 5160 mAH Battery
- 33W Fast Charging
- 64MP Main Quad Camera
- 20MP Front Camera
The leak indicates this is a none G chipset, however, most of the recent chipsets have this appended onto the name. There was an SD730 chipset, but only a handful of phones used it, such as the Redmi K20. Previous leaks of the new chipset indicate that it is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G and the specification matches this latest leak, so I am going with that.
Poco X3 vs OnePlus Nord – Not really a competitor
If this was supposed to be the OnePlus Nord competitor, it is not. It is unlikely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732 will be a 5G chipset. Nothing is mentioned about the display technology, but I would guess this will be LCD and not AMOLED like the OnePlus Nord.
However, being POCO, it will likely be aggressively priced and therefore still an amazing phone in its own right.
Rumours of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732 have been circling a while now, but we now have an idea of what this will likely be specced as in relation to its counterparts
Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G vs Snapdragon 720G, 730G & 765G vs MediaTek Helio G90T
I have previously criticised MediaTek for their pointless chipset launches, and it looks like Qualcomm may be doing the same here. By all accounts, this is effectively the same as the 730G or the SD720G. The CPU frequencies match the SD720G, but I would expect the GPU frequencies to be better.
Interestingly, it would seem like Xiaomi, and its sub-brands seem to get either exclusive or early access to these slightly tweaked chipsets. They launched the Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition back in May with the supped up Snapdragon 768G, since then no other phone has even been speculated with the chipset.

Benchmarks
No benchmarks have been revealed yet, but the below table shows my recent testing of Realme phones covering benchmarks for most mid-range chipsets recently. So you can expect that the SD732G will outperform the two older SD720G and SD730G chipsets. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the MediaTek Helio G90T.
