Realme X50m 5G vs X50 vs X50 Pro – The same as the X50 but with downgraded cameras and a lower price point – no word on UK or EU availability

Realme appears to be following Xiaomi’s footsteps by launching lots of phones at slightly different price points.

The Realme X50m is their latest phone which main selling point is how cheap it is. With a launch price of  CNY1,999 (£229/$280/€260) this must be the most affordable 5G phone on the market.

There is no word on international availability; there has been no mention about the Realme X50 being launched in the EU or UK and that launched in China back in January.

The phone is pretty much identical to the older X50, but the camera has been downgraded.

The Realme X50 shares the same rear camera specification as the X50 Pro with:

  • 64 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.72″, 0.8µm, PDAF
  • 12 MP, f/3.0, 54mm (telephoto), 2x optical zoom, PDAF
  • 8 MP, f/2.3, 13mm (ultrawide)
  • 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro), 1/5.0″, 1.75µm

The Realme X50m then uses almost the same specification as the budget Realme 6i with:

  • 48 MP, f/1.8, 25mm (wide), 1/2.0″, 0.8µm, PDAF
  • 8 MP, f/2.3, 16mm (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm
  • 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro)
  • 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth)

It looks like the 6i uses a smaller 1/2.25” sensor size though.

The X50m 5G comes with the UIS Max video recording feature introduced with the Realme 6 Pro and can record 120 FPS slow-motion videos with the 16MP selfie camera.

While the camera specification is a bit disappointing, it is how they get the cost so low. The rest of the specs are amazing considering the price.

You get a Snapdragon 765G 5G chipset, the display is an 6.57 inch LCD running at 120Hz / 1080 x 2400 pixels.

You get 6GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. The rear camera is complemented with a dual selfie camera with 16MP wide and 2MP depth sensor (the X50 has an 16MP wide/8MP ultrawide).

It then has a large 4200 mAH battery with 30W charging.

The Realme X50 Pro is very similar to the X50, but you get the top of the range Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. The display is switched to AMOLED, and it is actually smaller at 6.44 inches with a lower refresh rate of 90hz. The storage is upgraded to the faster UF3.0. One of the selfie cameras goes up to 32MP and the better charges at 65W.

The Realme X50 5G launched at CNY 2,499 so £286.

The Realme X50m 5G is then launching at CNY 500 cheaper at CNY1,999 (£229/$280/€260) so £57 cheaper.

The X50 Pro launched in India not China first, at Rs. 37,999 (£403/$530/€460) for 6GB/128GB.

The Realme X50 Pro is now available to pre-order from Amazon Spain for €599.00 which works out at £522
