This could be handy – TikTok has launched a new video editor tool which is designed to help marketers create more effective, native-looking TikTok video clips for their channels.
As explained by TikTok:
“TikTok Video Editor is an online smart editor that gives advertisers access to a suite of TikTok-style editing features. It allows you to quickly and accurately produce native-feeling content with TikTok-style elements, including popular music, fonts, colors and more. You can easily add custom subtitles, crop assets, and cut scenes exactly how you want in moments.”
The new video editor tool is accessible via the ‘Create a Video’ menu in TikTok Ads Manager, or from the Ad Creation menu when setting up a campaign.
To get started, you first choose the video content that you want to edit – either from content you’ve already uploaded to TikTok or your existing assets on your PC. You then drag the relevant video into the playback display to start editing.
Within the editor, you can add music (either by uploading your own or choosing from a library of copyrighted music) and overlay text to your clip.
As you can see, there’s a range of style and font options, which you can easily add to your uploaded clip.
You can also insert transitions between frames, and add visual effects, like sparkling-type overlays and blur tools. You can also remove objects from your video clip, and split and change the volume of your audio tracks.
And importantly, you can crop your video to size:
“Don’t worry if your assets don’t fit – you can easily adjust them to 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9 aspect ratio using the cropping tool. You can also select the aspect ratio of the final output from the dropdown below the preview screen.”
Essentially, it’s an easy way to edit your clips for TikTok specifically, which could open up new ways to create TikTok-specific video content.
Which is important – according to TikTok:
“TikTok has changed , not only by providing intuitive in-app shooting and editing tools – where anyone can produce a TikTok easily in the moment, with just a few taps – but also through the unique culture spawned by our community, where no-frills authenticity is prized over perfection”
As such, aligning your video promotions to TikTok specifically is the best way to generate response in the app.
TikTok’s video editor also has a handy ‘Masking’ tool, which enables you to overlay the title and UI controls on your clip, so you can see what it will actually look like in the app.
That will ensure that you don’t end up placing elements behind these buttons and text, reducing responsiveness.
It’s a good-looking tool, which could make it much easier to formulate your TikTok content approach.
You can access the new Video Editor in TikTok Ads Manager, while TikTok has also provided a comprehensive overview of the new tool here.
