Xiaomi finally confirms Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra & Lite launching 29th of March but China only, for now

I had hoped Xiaomi would have launched the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra during their Global launch back in February with a plan to possibly buy one if the price was right. Not only didn’t they launch the new phones, but the UK launch was delayed and will only be available to buy on the 3rd of April.

Xiaomi announced a mega launch via social media yesterday, I dismissed it a little, thinking it may be a bunch of IoT devices and scooters, but it is now confirmed to be the rest of the main phones from the Mi 11 series.

Sadly, this event is being held in China, which means the global launch won’t be yet. The Xiaomi MI 11 was launched in December, with a February global release and 4 months later, the UK finally sees the phones. So I won’t be holding my breathe about buying one.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is expected to arrive as the first phone with Snapdragon 775G chipset and spy shots pointed to a triple camera on the back – 64MP main, 8MP ultrawide and 5MP macro units.

Then we have the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra – these will almost certainly have the new large Samsung ISOCELL Bright GN2 sensor with 50MP resolution.

Unlike the 108MP sensor used on the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and Xiaomi MI 11 this has a gigantic sensor of 1/1.2″ vs the already large 1/1.33″ with the resulting pixel size being 1.4-micron vs 0.8 µm.

Numerous leaks also confirm the two phones will have a giant camera bump which is a result of a secondary display used to aid selfies.

Apparently, the only difference between the Pro and the Ultra is likely going to be only the charging capabilities – 66W vs 120W.
